The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Labor, will hold a meeting of the Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee (WPAC) on January 29, 2013 in Washington D.C.

The Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee, established by OSHA in May 2012, advises, consults with and makes recommendations to the Secretary of Labor and the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on ways to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and transparency of OSHA’s administration of whistleblower protections.

OSHA and WPAC whistleblower regulators are featured speakers at this all-day event. Other agenda topics include:

  • Improving customer service to workers and employers
  • Improving the investigative and enforcement process
  • Improvements of regulations governing OSHA investigations
  • Recommendations for cooperative activities with federal agencies responsible for areas also covered by the whistleblower protection statutes enforced by OSHA

OSHA enforces the whistleblower provisions contained in workplace, airline, commercial motor carrier, consumer product, environmental, financial reform, food safety, health care reform, nuclear, pipeline, public transportation agency, railroad, maritime and securities laws.
